Stories From Hans Andersen - Edmund Dulac was one of the central illustrators of the Edwardian period, he remained true to the medium of watercolor, and the critics were unanimous in their praise. He was recognized as an illustrator of first rank, a master of the fantastic and exotic, and "a dreamer of extraordinary dreams". Dulac was a French artist who moved to England in 1905, becoming a citizen in 1912. He was primarily a book illustrator, mostly working on fairy tales and legends. In addition, he was a caricaturist, portraitist, sculptor, and designer. Of all the great book illustrators, Dulac remained the most active throughout his life.
